About Me

Thank you for visiting my blog.  My main goal in publishing this blog is to chronicle my plans, steps and missteps in my journey towards an inspired, simple life.  If any of my musings brings  insight or inspiration to others to embark on the same journey towards prudent living,  I would have accomplished one of the things that matters most to me – to touch someone and be an instrument to his or her happiness in life.

In the beginning, my pursuit for living a simple life did not come easy.  It was a stop-and-go for quite sometime, not sure of what to do next or if the lifestyle I choose is really the best for my family and me.  Not until I focused on what matters most for us did the inspiration that made me choose this lifestyle came to me.

I used to be a workaholic – working all kinds of hours, even on  some weekends and holidays to finish my projects.   My training in Chemistry, MBA,  and six-sigma quality engineering  made me clamoring for challenges like an addict for his fix.   Winning challenges brought not only self-satisfaction, but also material things.  I used to equate personal possessions with  “success and happiness”.    I used the phrase “I had to act the part” as an excuse to accumulate “stuff” whether I need it or not.  My “stuff” and all the things I bought for the family  overflowed into our rooms, attic and garage causing us to rent storage spaces for my “stuff”.  Long story short, my life did not turn out “happily ever after”.  Something was amiss.  My style of living brought me fleeting happiness, but lasting sorrows.

Eventually, I realized that something needs to be changed.  Being raised in a Christian family, I read the Bible first , then books, magazines, and Internet articles, regarding the subject of how to lead a happy life.  Like the Bible, the sensible ones point to simple living, though the way to attain it differs significantly.  It was difficult in the beginning, but once my quest crystallized and inspired by man’s wisdom and, especially, God’s words, I began a smoother journey to a simple, prudent,  living.  My transition is still a work in progress, but inspired simple living is a journey and not a destination.

Enjoy, and cheers to your journey to an inspired, simple life!
